JUMP into SPRING -literally! Remember the fun pop quizzes you took in magazines when you were a teen? What celeb are you going to marry? How many kids will you have? Well now that you are all growns up Shoemint is recreating the teen fun (adult version) by giving you a style quiz to determine your shoe style. THEN you will get personal picks from Rachel Bilson and celeb stylist Nicole Chavez based on your personal style each month, AND the shoes are offered to you up to 80% off retail. Yep. Only $79.98 per pair.

Here are some of our favorite Shoemint styles from their Spring collection. We love the way these wedges incorporated some of our favorite global textiles and think they are perfect for daytime, nighttime, travel, and anything Summer.

How fabulous would these flats make for your Summer travel plans?? we are particularly in love with the hand-woven ballet flats that come in cognac, teal, or nude… we could definitely wander the streets of Spain and beach towns of Mexico in these. Getting married? Bridesmaids could sooo rock these.

* Rachel Bilson Style Notes: “The ballet slipper is the ultimate basic. Just like your favorite white tee, this shoe has the ability to translate across any closet. From cigarette pants to your favorite springtime dresses, it goes with everything. Whether you choose bold teal or a neutral nude, you’ll look flat-out fabulous when you step into a woven pair.”

If you want to have one of those celeb worthy (MTV Cribs style) closets chalk full of shoes, Shoemint will pretty much answer your girly dreams.

marble madness

We are Mad for Marble…  What is Marble? Geologists use the term “marble” to refer to metamorphosed limestone. The word “marble” is derived from various Greek words that mean “crystalline rock”, “shining stone”, and Greek verbs that mean “to flash, sparkle, gleam”. Sparkle? Gleam? What a fabulous natural element to be inspired by. Here are some of our favorite ways to incorporate marble into your home decor or upcoming event.

There are so many ways you could incorporate the florentine marbled paper into your home. Line your drawers, use as stationery, or make into seating cards for a dinner party. The marble print scarf can be worn around your neck or used as the fabric to cover chairs, pillows or other home decorative objects, and the marbleized pillow would look fabulous just about anywhere.

The marble madness doesn’t stop at your home.. What about incorporating into your wedding with marbleized wedding invitations or marbled cake slices?

or into bridesmaid dresses and instead of the inside of your cake, how about the outside?

freedom child

5.11.2012

Are you throwing a party or a wedding and are the ‘peace, love and happiness’ type gal? Shouldn’t weddings and parties be all about that anyway?? Well Freedom Children reunite with your inner hippie and throw on some John Lennon..

There is nothing more inspiring than a good old Kate Moss blast from the past.. How about this one from 2002 Vogue UK (was this really 10 years ago?) They mastered the breezy bohemia vibe way back then!  This  shoot by Corinne Day entitled “Freedom Child”, is as carefree as they come.  Basically build a tent out of mismatched blankets and quilts to serve as lounges for guests. Why not?

Then add a little dreamcatcher garland.. Weddings and parties are about dreams too aren’t they?

Fast forward to over 10 years later and Vogue is at it again. We love this ultra hippy gypsy ode to Woodstock,  by Bruce Weber for ‘Summer of Love’ in Vogue US April 2012 issue. Styled by Camilla Nickerson, Raquel Zimmermen and Lea are dancing in their best breezy boho with little carefree kids playing tambourine and ukelele. Another fun idea for a get together! Thanks Vogue!
